Third Party Fundraisers

Third Party Fundraisers are sponsored by individuals or organizations other than the DSAGC. We are grateful that others want to help support the DSAGC mission and we welcome, encourage, and appreciate fundraising events/projects that benefit our programs and services. In the past, families have organized events such as Tri For Joe Triathlon, NFL Draft Day Demolition Derby, golf tournaments, softball tournaments, Bunko parties, road races, benefits and raffles.

All individuals and organizations are respectfully requested to submit a Fundraiser Proposal Form for approval prior to including DSAGC as a beneficiary for an event.

The Annual Tri for Joe (at Coney Island)

Tri for Joe FamilyThis multi-sport charity event is inspired by, and in honor of, Joe Gerstle. Tom Gerstle, Joe’s father developed a unique event that was based on his experience in Triathlons. This is a family friendly event that will appeal to the seasoned multisport athlete as well as rookies who are looking for a new challenge. The event includes:

  • RUN/WALK – 5K inside the Coney Island Park
  • DUATHLON – 5K run, 30 kilometer bike, 5K run
  • KID FUN RUN – The fun run is an approximately 1/4 mile run for kids 8 and under. Registered kids will receive a fun goody bag, race number and a race t-shirt.
  • TRIATHLON - 700 meter swim, 30 kilometer bike, 5 kilometer run
    • SWIM – The 700 meter swim will be in Coney’s beautiful Sunlight pool. Two laps must be completed. You will start the swim in the North shallow end in age group waves. You will exit the swim after your second lap at the South side of the shallow end. Approximately half of the swim will be in shallow (4 foot depth) water, you may stand if necessary. Lifeguards will be on duty.
    • BIKE – The 30 K flat and fast bike course will take you out of Coney’s parking lot east along Kellogg Ave. to the old five mile road turnaround back west to Lunken Playfield where you will take a lap on the bike path and then continue west on Kellogg to the Congress turnaround back east to Coney. Police officers and volunteers will be along the route to control traffic and assist athletes. The route will be marked with cones and painted arrows at each intersection. A lane will be reserved for the race but vehicle traffic will be present.
    • RUN – The 5 K flat run course will take athletes from the transition area through Coney’s picnic grove and back to the finish chute.
