ADVOCACY/PUBLIC POLICY

2008 Goals:

1. Be available to support the following with public policy change as requested:
   1. The Postsecondary Education Collaborative
   2. The new School Age Coordinator and yet to be created Education Advisory Board as they work with families that are advocating for Extended School Year and other school focused issues in Southwest Ohio/NKY
   3. ODAN and “KDAN”, if created
   4. DSAGC response to prenatal testing and parent education
   5. Kentucky’s educational policy of choosing a track for your child in 4rth grade and diploma options
2. Monitor and keep informed about:
1. Ohio and Kentucky’s IDEA rules
2. Ohio’s Medicaid Buy In legislation to support employment of adults with disabilities
3. Federal bill creating Financial Disability Savings Accounts
4. Federal bill addressing Prenatal Diagnosis needs (Kennedy-Brownback Bill)
3. Take a Lead Role:
   1. Addressing adoption awareness state policy if needed.
   2. Establishing relationships with Greater Cincinnati politicians so when issues arise, they already know about us.
