Advocates in Action

Advocates in Action is a program for adults with Down syndrome ages 18 & up.  Throughout the year, the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati will offer a volunteer opportunity for our adults with Down syndrome.  The goal is to spread awareness and give back to the community.

If someone participates in THREE volunteer opportunities, they’ll get a t-shirt; if someone participates in FIVE volunteer opportunities, they’ll get recognized at a DSAGC event.

2017 Advocates In Action Calendar of Events

January 28 | 9 - 11:30 AM | Freestore Foodbank
During the school year, the Freestore Foodbank sends packs of food, known as Power Packs, home with students to ensure they have something to eat on weekends. Each Power Pack contains nearly a dozen food items, which are shelf-stable and kid-friendly. Join us as we kick off the year voluntering at the Freestore Foodbank assembling Power Packs for local school children.

February 23 - 26 | Various Times | DSAIA Conference, Downtown Cincinnati
The Down Syndrome Affliates in Action (DSAIA) Conference and National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) are thrilled to announce a collaboration between the DSAIA and NDSS Buddy Walk Organizer's Conference. This first-ever collaboration will bring more education and leadership-growth opportunities for affiliate leaders, advocates and individuals dedicated to the Down syndrome community.

March 14 | 10 AM - 1 PM | Ronald McDonald House
Families throughout Ohio, across the United States, and from around the world come to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center seeking life-saving treatment for their critically ill children. Spend time together helping make their "home away from home" clean, welcoming and safe for all who come to live there.

*These volunteer outings will have volunteer and staff support, but transportation will not be provided.
