The DSAGC can help guide you to select books, DVD’s and printed resources
as you attempt to learn more about Down syndrome.
New Parent Magazine
The DSAGC distributes the New Parent magazine, “Expecting an Extraordinary
Life….A New Parent’s Guide to Down Syndrome” to 34 area hospital departments.
This new publication, created by the DSAGC in 2008, includes stories
from families, siblings and grandparents, an introduction to Down syndrome
for new parents, information on medical issues, and wonderful full
color photographs. Hospital staff, including nurses, perinatal care
coordinators, social workers and geneticists are provided with a supply
of these magazines to distribute to any patient who delivers a baby

New and Expectant Parent DVD
This DVD was created by the DSAGC families to highlight the surprising
and unanticipated joys of raising a child with Down syndrome. This
14 minute video, entitled, “The
Journey Ahead…Consider the Possibilities” contains
footage of our local families as they share their experience of family
life with a child with Down syndrome.
Adoption Awareness DVD
This 6:45 minute DVD was created to highlight the experiences of families
who have released their child for adoption and those who have elected
to adopt a child with Down syndrome. The DSAGC National Adoption Awareness
Program provides information to birth families who may be seeking alternatives
to parenting as they prepare for the arrival of their child. Making
an adoption plan for a child with Down syndrome is a loving option
and can be the right decision for some families.
For more information about adoption please contact Robin Steele, at 513-213-9615 or rsteele@zoomtown.com. Robin has been working with families for the last 25 years giving value neutral information to birth parents who want to know more about this option.
