UPDATE (March 2020): With DSAGC’s World Down Syndrome Day 5K/10K, presented by Ameritas, originally scheduled for this coming Sunday (March 29), I wanted to touch base with you about our updated plans.
As the recommendations and guidelines from our local leaders surrounding Covid-19 continually changes, we have made the decision to host our World Down Syndrome Day 5K/10K VIRTUALLY! The event will still be held on March 29th - just at a location of your choice. While we will miss being with you in person, we are excited to still be able to CELEBRATE with you!
On Sunday, you can run/walk/stroll your own “race” but we encourage you to find FUN ways to incorporate 321 into it! You can run 3.21 miles, or maybe you and your family can take a walk past 21 houses in your neighborhood, or have your kids run as fast as they can for 21 seconds. This is your time to get creative!
To help us stay connected and celebrate together, please share your race view, your sweaty selfie, and/or your finish line fun on social media. Make sure to tag the DSAGC and use the hashtag #virtual321. *Don’t forget - if you want us to see your post, please be sure to make it public as we will be re-sharing your content throughout the day.
While we wish everyone could be wearing their race shirts together, the current “stay-at-home” order does not make this possible. But don’t worry - you will still get your shirt. As soon as it is determined safe, we will coordinate a t-shirt pick-up day!
We hope you will still join us to celebrate our World Down Syndrome Day 5K/10K! Your VIRTUAL participation will help us continue to serve people with Down syndrome and their families during this time.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to “running” and celebrating with you on Sunday!
