Each one takes significant time, planning, and funding to make happen. When someone registers but doesn't attend, it not only affects the program's cost but also means another family may miss out on the experience. We understand that life happens! When Words Are Slow To Come: Bridges and Behavior

Through guided activities, collaborative games, and natural conversations, these kids will learn strategies for initiating and maintaining conversations, interpreting social cues, and building positive peer relationships. The goal is to boost confidence, develop practical communication tools, and support the creation of genuine friendships in an informal, interactive setting.

Tailored to meet the specific needs of this population, drumming is used as a tool for improving motor skills, coordination, and social interaction. Participants engage in structured sessions where they learn basic drumming techniques, rhythms, and patterns, in a group setting to foster a sense of community and shared purpose. Research has shown that such programs can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and promote better physical health by encouraging movement and exercise. The rhythm and coordination required in drumming also help stimulate brain function and improve attention span, memory, and executive function. Additionally, drumming provides an outlet for self-expression, allowing individuals to communicate in ways that might be more accessible than traditional verbal communication.

Description: Help your tween/teen practice real-world communication skills while building meaningful social connections! This ten-week program is led by University of Cincinnati Speech-Language Pathology graduate students under the supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Kendra Thornock.
The program focuses on helping participants practice real world communication in meaningful, authentic ways. Through guided activities, collaborative games, and natural conversations, these kids will learn strategies for initiating and maintaining conversations, interpreting social cues, and building positive peer relationships. The goal is to boost confidence, develop practical communication tools, and support the creation of genuine friendships in an informal, interactive setting.
New this session: To further our collaboration with the University of Cincinnati Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, we will be hosting half of the club sessions at UC’s state of the art Speech and Hearing Clinic!

Description: T.E.L.L. stands for Teaching Engagement and Lifelong Language. The T.E.L.L. Speech Program is led by University of Cincinnati Speech-Language Pathology graduate students under the supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Kendra Thornock.
This program is designed to improve communication skills using personalized supports for each participant. The program focuses on addressing challenges related to speech articulation, language comprehension, and social communication. Tailored to meet individual needs, it may involve exercises to improve pronunciation, sentence structure, vocabulary, and conversation skills.
Over 10 weeks, participants in the program?work with SLP grad students under the supervision of the speech language pathologist,?who use a variety of techniques, such as speech drills, auditory discrimination exercises, and social communication practice. The program?includes weekly?group activities to encourage real-life conversation and social interaction, fostering confidence in speaking with peers, family, and within the community.
In addition to improving verbal communication, the program also focuses on enhancing non-verbal communication, such as body language, facial expressions, and gestures, which are key to effective interaction. The program is designed to support both functional and expressive language, helping adults with Down syndrome to better express their thoughts, needs, and emotions. Communication comes in many forms, and our team is to working with different forms of AAC devices both low and high tech.
Evaluations will take place between September 14-21st, with the first week of T.E.L.L. group sessions beginning Monday Sept 29.

Along the way, they'll learn the names and proper uses of basic hand tools, safe tool handling, and how to follow written instructions while completing a project. Best of all, each participant will leave with a fully assembled toolbox, a set of essential tools to keep, and the confidence to use them at home. Description: Join us for a fun and exciting drumming program designed for adults with Down syndrome! In each session, we’ll use rhythm and music to help you feel great in your body and your mind. Together, we will work to improve cognitive function, coordination, and motor skills while reducing stress and pain. Let’s make music, move together, and feel awesome inside and out!

Description: Get ready to hit the high notes and sip something delicious at our Karaoke & Mocktail Party night designed especially for adults 30+ with Down syndrome who love music, laughter, and a good time with friends!
Whether you’re a powerhouse performer, a shy shower?singer, or someone who just loves cheering from the audience, this event has something for everyone. Take the stage with your favorite songs, enjoy colorful (non alcoholic!) mocktails from our Mocktail Drink Station, and enjoy a fun, social evening full of creativity and connection.
Expect music, lights, laughter, plenty of applause, and a welcoming space where everyone can shine. Come sing your heart out, try a new fruity flavor, and make unforgettable memories!
